The Rock says musical fans should sing if they want to.
The former WWE Champion has had a busy Christmas in terms of cinema this year. He starred in the action/comedy movie Red One, alongside Marvel stars Chris Evans and JK Simmons.
Meanwhile, Moana 2 is set for release on Friday. The sequel to the hit Disney film from 2016 looks set to be the biggest blockbuster this Christmas, hoping to reach the lofty heights of the first installment of the series.
That film was filled with songs for kids to sing along to, especially The Rock’s own You’re Welcome. It was a huge hit when the first movie came out, and The People’s Champion wants to hear more people singing along with the movie.
The Rock spoke with BBC News on the red carpet at the Moana 2 premiere. He expressed his view that people should be free to sing along in the cinema. He noted that if you have paid for your ticket then you are entitled to enjoy yourself, and if that includes singing then go for it!
“Sing! You’ve paid your hard-earned money for a ticket, and you’ve gone into a musical, and you’re into it. Sing!” The Rock said. “Especially if you love music, that’s the fun part.”
The Rock Is Asked To Do Three Things By The Fans
The Rock is asked to do three things regularly by his fanbase.
Appearing on 360 With Speedy, The Rock was asked about his view on people asking him to do “The People’s Eyebrow” on a regular basis. He revealed that he understands why and he always has fun with it when asked.
“I get it. People ask me that all the time, right? ‘Do the eyebrow! Do the eyebrow!’. I’ll always have fun with it. I mean, that look—I did that stuff in high school. That’s where it comes from. It was my way of just messing with girls, you know, like, ‘Come on!’ That kind of thing. And then, somehow, I took that into WWE, and in some wacky way, it turned into this iconic thing with The Rock character.
“So, here are the three things I always get asked: ‘Can you sing You’re Welcome from Moana?’, ‘Do the eyebrow,’ and ‘Do the If you smell…!‘ You know, that kind of thing. Yeah, I’ve got a good relationship with all that, man.”
