The Rock and Roman Reigns are on collision course against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins as both iconic duo will square off in a highly explosive tag team match at WrestleMania 40 Night 1 in less than a week in Philadelphia.

However, the night The Final Boss laid out the challenge to Rollins and Rhodes on the March 1, 2024 episode of SmackDown, something intriguing happened during that segment which had the fans erupting in shock.

As The Rock completed his address towards The American Nightmare and The Drip God, he found himself interrupted by his cousin Roman Reigns, right before he was about to conclude the segment with his signature catchphrase.

Roman Reigns stopped The Rock in his tracks, asking for his acknowledgment as his Tribal Chief, which The Great One did for his blood. In part two of a recent mini-documentary posted by The Rock on his X, he revealed that neither he was expecting Reigns to stop him midway nor was it part of a storyline.

The Final Boss stated that he saw something in his cousin’s eyes addressing him by his real name, Joe Anoa’i, and believed that he needed his family’s acknowledgment which is why The Rock obeyed Roman Reigns’ demand for the sake of his brotherhood.

“Something happened out there that The Rock didn’t expect. They thought it was a part of the storyline, well you know that’s not how The Rock operates. It wasn’t no storyline. The Rock saw something in Joe Anoa’i’s eyes that The Rock had never seen before, and in that moment as Joe, who is my family, my cousin, my Uso, which means brother in Samoan, Aiga, if he needs me to acknowledge him, I’m gonna acknowledge him.”

With WrestleMania 40 days away, we will have to wait and see if this incident reignites in some other fashion and could possibly see The Rock turning on Roman Reigns to set up a future rivalry between the two iconic Samoans that has been speculated since then.
