WrestleMania 40 is set to take place in less than a month, and there is a lot of hype behind the Premium Live Event for good reason. The Rock will be in action on the show and he has now revealed why he didn’t attack John Cena at the Oscars to promote WrestleMania 40.
At the Oscars on March 10, John Cena seemingly made a nude appearance, covered only by the envelope he was holding. He shared a moment with The Rock, who also presented an award alongside Bad Bunny. Of course, the truth behind his birthday suit facade was eventually revealed as well.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Rock discussed his interaction with the partially naked John Cena at the Oscars. When asked why he didn’t attack John Cena to promote WrestleMania, The Rock noted that he didn’t want to attack a half-naked Cena and needed him to be fully in the buff for the attack to happen.
Jimmy Kimmel: ”I had a crazy moment with you last night, actually. It was kind of weird. Coming off the stage with a partially nice John Cena, and we’re going through this little alley, and then there’s you and John Cena. I’m like, I feel like I might be wrestling here in a second. I feel like you guys, I thought afterwards, you really missed an opportunity to promote WrestleMania by attacking each other in that moment. A folding chair, a smash, something like that.”
The Rock: ”Right, a half-naked John Cena isn’t the guy who I want to attack [laughs].”
Jimmy Kimmel: ”You want him fully naked?”
The Rock: ”[Laughs] I need him fully naked before I attack him [laughs]. That was his joke, by the way.”
Nonetheless, fans are hoping John Cena will appear at WrestleMania 40 after he confirmed his status for the event, so we’ll have to see if he will appear at the show somehow.
