WWE nearly made a major announcement at the Super Bowl.

On the February 21st episode of WWE SmackDown, The Rock announced that WrestleMania 42 would be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. As it turns out, the company planned to make the announcement even more special.

At the WWE SmackDown post-show press conference, The Rock discussed WrestleMania returning to New Orleans. He noted that they were going to make the announcement at Super Bowl LIX, which was also held at the Caesars Superdome. However, they couldn’t make it happen.

“We were going to be part of the Super Bowl and make the announcement at the Super Bowl, that we were coming here to New Orleans,” The Rock said. “We had a couple of hiccups, and we couldn’t make that happen. But in any event, we’re here now. The improvements made to the [Superdome] played a great factor into what we’re doing.”

During the press conference, The Rock discussed his SmackDown segment with Cody Rhodes.
