Manchester United have targeted three players for the summer transfer window including Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich, according to reports.

United are looking to bring in stars entering the final year of their contracts this summer, such as Kimmich, although the Red Devils must fight Manchester City and a host of other clubs for the Germany international’s signature.

Kimmich can operate as a defensive midfielder or right-back, producing 41 goals and 100 assists across 370 games for the German champions.

He is one of three players United will target this summer as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s squad rebuild, according to ESPN.

Another name on United’s wishlist is Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, who is out of contract in the summer of 2025.

The 22-year-old France international was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year for his impressive performances last season.

The third player United will target this summer is Lille’s star forward Jonathan David, who like Thuram and Kimmich sees his current deal expire in 2025.

The Canadian has scored 71 goals in 164 games for the French club, which has led to interest from a number of top sides.

United have acknowledged that their finances are ‘tight’ and believe that targeting players at the end of their contracts is a good way of managing their summer spend.

Ratcliffe and his INEOS team recently took control of football operations at Old Trafford after the British billionaire acquired 25 per cent of the club.
