Brittany Cartwright is opening up about her divorce from Jax Taylor! The 35-year-old The Valley star filed paperwork in August after the couple separated earlier in the year, following five years of marriage and almost ten years together. Much of their relationship has played out on camera, first on Vanderpump Rules and now on The Valley. Their separation and divorce will play out in the Bravo television show’s upcoming second season. During an appearance on the Hot Mic podcast with The Valley executive producer Alex Baskin, Brittany explained what made this summer the time to file for divorce, how she doesn’t think Jax has changed after going to a mental health facility and more. Keep reading to find out more… Brittany was asked what the most surprising thing about the upcoming season of The Valley was and one thing she noted was her divorce. “Actually going through in filing was kind of like a surprise because I wasn’t sure when I was going to do it, how I was going to do it, if I was going to do it,” she said. “I felt relieved [when I did it]. I felt relieved and like I wasn’t in there crying my eyes out like I thought I would. It just kind of made me realize, ‘Yeah, this is done. This is done.’” Alex noted that we will see “all of it on the show this season,” and “we see the immediate fall out of it.” “I was just like, ‘I got to, I have to do this now, before I back out, before he gets out of the mental health facility, and pulls me back in. I have to do it now while I’m feeling strong, while I’m so angry, I’ve just got to get it done,’” Brittany added. “I was just like, ‘I have to go through with it now,’ and I had to be strong and I have to stay strong from here on out.” The reality star then said, “I don’t feel like he changed at all in those 30 days, and the reason, I mean, I’m sure it’ll be on the show as well, but you know, a lot of rage texting and stuff was still going on the entire time that he was in rehab. So for me, I was just noticing this is just going to be constant. Like, if you’re in therapy seven hours a day and you’re still finding time to call me names and cuss me out and send me rage texts, then you’re obviously not ever going to change.” Check out the full video about the divorce right here, and you can check out Brittany‘s full podcast episode on Spotify below! In case you missed it, Jax agreed to grant Brittany full custody of their son Cruz last month.
