The View dedicated their “Hot Topics” to chatter around the Super Bowl LIX, where the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
One of the topics the panel discussed was Travis Kelce‘s response about Donald Trump attending the big game on Sunday. Kelce is in a relationship with Taylor Swift, who Trump has said he didn’t like after she endorsed Kamala Harris for president.
“I’m pretty sure that Travis Kelce knows that,” Sunny Hostin said of what Trump said about Swift. “He was being a diplomat, and I think he did the right thing by not giving into this madness.”
Whoopi Goldberg agreed with Hostin’s take, adding, “I like that we’re not giving into the madness either cause part of our job is not to feed that, cause we want to help you not be like this. The kid did well, I think.”
Ahead of the Super Bowl, Kelce was asked for his thoughts on Trump attending the game.

“It’s a great honor, I think, no matter who the president is,” Kelce told reporters, according to Reuters. “I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there – it’s the best country in the world so it’d be pretty cool.”
Many Swifties were disappointed in Kelce’s response as they felt he didn’t stick up for Taylor Swift after Trump lashed out at her on social media.
Resident View Swiftie Alyssa Farah Griffin called Kelce’s response “totally classy” and “a diplomatic answer,” adding, “It’s his big day to be playing. The presidency is bigger than any one person. He’s proud that the president of the United States is there. I don’t know that it’s any kind of statement of Donald Trump specifically. He’d say the same thing if it was Joe Biden, Obama, George Bush. I thought it was a very classy statement.”
Ana Navarro added that of Kelce would’ve said something against Trump, “it would been taken out on his team.”
Sara Haines also agreed that if Kelce had said anything else “would’ve made it about something else and not about them.”
