Alyssa Farah Griffin doesn’t agree with how her former boss, Donald Trump, handles some things, but she recently agreed with him on one thing.
The View‘s conservative co-host said that she agrees with Trump renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” because it’s “more inclusive.”
“I don’t actually hate renaming the ‘Gulf of America,’ and I’m going to tell you why,” she said on Thursday’s episode of the ABC talk show. “It’s a more inclusive term. It is North America. Mexico and the United States are part of the Americas.”
She continued, “It would be petty if he called it the Gulf of the United States by basically saying it’s our country’s, not yours.”
Griffin said that with Trump making this an issue it’s his way of causing distraction and “to trigger reaction from the media so that they cover this and pay more attention” instead of news about getting rid of government agencies or confirming Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence.
Although the former White House press secretary agrees with Trump on the “Gulf of America” rename, she doesn’t agree with Trump barring access to the Associated Press for not following suit and renaming the body of water.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed they had blocked AP’s access to the Oval Office to hold the news organization “accountable.”
“I was very upfront in my briefing on day one, that if we feel there are lies being pushed by outlets in this room, we are going to hold those lies accountable. And it is a fact that the body of water off the coast of Louisiana is called the ‘Gulf of America,'” Leavitt said during a press briefing.
