Ana Navarro is a champion of Latinos in media and praised Shakira for her acceptance speech at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
On The View, the political commentator highlighted the Latinos that won at the Grammys, like Sheila E. and Gloria Estefan. Navarro particularly commended the Colombian singer for talking about the Latino community.
“She took the chance, she took the opportunity to use her platform to defend our community that’s being targeted and profiled,” Navarro said. “More people need to lose the fear and do what Shakira did last night.”
Shakira took the stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and dedicated her Best Latin Pop Album category for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran win to the immigrant community.
“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country,” she said. “You are loved. You are worth it, and I will always fight with you.”
Shakira also gave a shoutout to “all the women who work really hard every day to provide for their families,” adding, “You are the true she-wolves.”
The Donald Trump administration has made it its mission to deport undocumented immigrants from the U.S., and raids across the country have taken place. Last Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security said it was ending a policy that restricted ICE agents from arresting undocumented people at houses of worship, schools, and hospitals.
“Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid arrest. The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement, and instead trusts them to use common sense,” the DHS said in a statement.
