The destination for Monday Night RAW after the USA Network deal was disclosed this week, as WWE’s longest-running show is set to move to the streaming giant Netflix in 2025. However, this change will now bring an end to the WWE Network in countries all around the world.
We have reported that WWE and Netflix confirmed their huge deal to move Monday Night RAW to the streaming service, which will begin in January 2025. The reported deal, valued at over $5 billion for duration of ten years, shocked fans all over the world.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that the WWE Network, which is still operational in various international regions including almost all of Europe, will be discontinued at the end of the year when WWE’s new deal with Netflix comes into effect.
Meltzer suggests that the fate of WWE archival content currently on the Network is uncertain. However, he believes that it should transition to Netflix once the partnership with WWE commences.
”For most of the world, they’re going to be taking over the WWE Network. The WWE Network itself, that exists outside the United States, that will be folding at the end of the year and Netflix will pick up the content.”
”So a lot of people have asked will they pick up all the content? All the archives? I don’t know. But they will be the sole source of that, the archival content of all the old territories and all the old stuff that was on the old WWE Network. That will, that will move to Netflix outside the United States in January.”
‘‘And when the Peacock deal is up, if Netflix were to get that, that’d be interesting to see how much more they would pay. Obviously, it’s a $200 million deal per year deal right now. So that’s the next deal. That’s coming up.”
WWE RAW may also extend overrun periods after their Netflix deal. The USA Network will also not be extending its deal with WWE until 2025. WWE President Nick Khan also disclosed plans when it came to shifting RAW from Monday nights. We’ll have to see how WWE will make up for the WWE Network shutting down all over the world this year.
