EXCLUSIVE: Edward J. Scott is going home: the longtime daytime drama producer is returning to The Young and the Restless after a 14-year stint at The Bold and the Beautiful.

Scott will serve as a senior producer at Y&R. Josh Griffith is the executive producer and head writer.

Scott is a seven-time Daytime Emmy winner who has played a pivotal role in the development of the soap opera genre for nearly five decades. He began his association with the Bell family and Bell-Phillip Television Productions in 1976 when he joined The Young and The Restless as an associate producer. He quickly moved up the ranks and served as the show’s executive producer until 2007.

He then joined Days of Our Lives as a co-exec producer before returning to Bell-Phillip in 2010 to serve as a supervising producer for B&B from 2010-2024.

Bell and his wife, Y&R star Melody Thomas Scott, were the joint recipients of the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in June.

“Daytime TV is hard work,” said Thomas Scott at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmys. “I salute all of you here tonight for your contributions to our industry. Edward and I are eager to do our part to carry on the proud tradition of the great American soap opera.”
