Alan Shearer has been reacting to the summer 2024 Newcastle United transfer window.

That window having closed at 11pm on Friday night.

The final 22 days of this Newcastle United transfer window seeing not a single player signed, not even on loan, with £15m young striker Will Osula proving to be the last incoming deal, arriving from Sheffield United on 8 August 2024.

The Alan Shearer reaction? ‘They haven’t helped Eddie [Howe] at all. Failed him.’

The NUFC legend specifically pointing his finger at both Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales and Sporting Director Paul Mitchell, reminding everybody how the pair of them promised that players were going to be signed…

Only Will Osula having arrived since Paul Mitchell was appointed.

Alan Shearer reacting after the Newcastle United summer transfer window closed, speaking to The Athletic -31 August 2024:

“They haven’t helped Eddie at all. Failed him

“We were told by Darren Eales and Paul Mitchell that they were going to sign players.

“To do so little does not reflect well on them at all.

“Every single club who will be in and around fighting with Newcastle this season has improved significantly.

“It’s very, very disappointing.”
