Juventus Turin wants to regain its former glory. After a few failed seasons, the Old Lady put some order into its house last year with a great season in Serie A. Finishing in third place, the Bianconeri secured their qualification for the next Champions League after spending a season without Europe. Inevitably, expectations for the Piedmontese have been revised upwards and this has translated into an ambitious start to the summer. One of the first stones laid was the arrival of Thiago Motta on the bench of the Allianz Stadium residents.
Indeed, after gloomy years under the direction of Massimiliano Allegri, Juve turned the page and decided to bet on the coach in vogue on the other side of the Alps. The former PSG midfielder, author of a phenomenal record with Bologna, which he qualified for the next edition of the Champions League, was very much in demand, but quickly opted for the Old Lady’s project. From then on, the Turin leaders were able to get active on the transfer market. And several players came to strengthen Thiago Motta’s ranks.
Federico Chiesa, Tiago Djalo and Wojciech Szczęsny pushed towards the exit
Thus, Michele Di Gregorio, Khephren Thuram, Juan David Cabal and Douglas Luiz have already put down their suitcases since the beginning of the summer. On other issues, the Bianconeri leaders have not finished shopping on the transfer market. But to continue on this path, it will already be necessary to trim the payroll and a plethora of squad. In this sense, the Italian press informs us this Saturday that the transalpine management has shown the exit door to eight players from its professional group.Sky Italy also indicates that the latter have not been called up for the friendly match against Brest this Saturday at 9 p.m.
Unsurprisingly, Federico Chiesa is on this list. Yet one of Turin’s best players in recent years, the Italian winger is not part of Motta’s plans for next season. Close to Roma in recent weeks, a departure should take place in the coming days. Former Lille player Tiago Djalo is in the same situation, as are six other teammates: Arthur Melo, Wojciech Szczęsny, Daniele Rugani, Mattia De Sciglio, Filip Kostic and Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia. A page is turning in Turin.
