Former French international Thierry Henry has named the player who, in his eyes, is the most intelligent on the pitch.

French youth coach Thierry Henry has expressed his immense admiration for Manchester City attacking midfielder Kevin de Bruyne. On the other hand, he also revealed that the latter can sometimes lose his temper with his teammates.

Henry worked alongside De Bruyne for several years. It was when he held the position of assistant to Roberto Martinez within the Belgian selection. So he knows him well enough to talk about it.

Henry loses to De Bruyne

In an interview with Supersport, he confided: “I’ve never seen a football brain like Kevin’s. And I played with, among others, Xavi, who was already more than intelligent. But the way De Bruyne sees football… it can sometimes even put him in difficulty”. A recognition to which KDB will certainly not remain indifferent.

Henry also stressed that the demands of Belgian genius could sometimes play bad tricks on him: “What I saw him do in training and in matches… There were times when I didn’t know what planet De Bruyne was on. And that sometimes drove him crazy, simply because his teammates were not at the same level.”
