Zlatan Ibrahimovic calls for Thierry Henry! The Swedish giant, now manager of AC Milan, was amused by the absence of his former French teammate on the CBS set before a Serie A match.
Having resigned from his position as coach of the French Espoirs team after the fine silver medal won by his players at the Paris 2024 Olympics football tournament, Thierry Henry will probably enjoy some quality time with his family. The Arsenal legend will return to his daily life in London to take care of his children. Perhaps he will return to the CBS set for Champions League evenings with his sidekicks Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards. Their sequences of hearty laughter, in front of presenter Kate Abdo, have been delighting football fans for three years.
CBS, the American network, also has the TV rights to Serie A this season and can count on Fabio Cannavaro, 2006 Ballon d’Or winner (and a perfect English speaker), and former MLS player Mike Grella as consultants. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played two years for the Los Angeles Galaxy, was invited to the channel’s set installed on the Parma ground on Saturday, before the AC Milan match, the Swedish giant now being the Rossoneri’s chief executive (as an advisor to owners RedBird Capital Partners).
Where is the real studio with Thierry Henry?
“Thank you for having me, but I was thinking: where is the real studio with (Thierry) Henry, Kate (Abdo) and Micah (Richards)? Come on, I’m going home. If you bring me back, you’ll have to bring the A team back. Don’t worry, I’ll get you back up to speed.”then launched “Ibra” in front of amused presenters. This also went badly for the Milanese now led by Paulo Fonseca, beaten by the promoted Parmesans (2-1).
If Thierry Henry returns to service for the Champions League on CBS, perhaps he will have the opportunity to come to the matches of the Italian championship alongside Cannavaro (whom he has met many times, notably during the 1998 and 2006 World Cups and the Euro 2000 final). The 98 world champion also played with Ibrahimovic during the 2009-2010 season. Pep Guardiola’s Barça, with a 47-goal Lionel Messi, had been champion of Spain, losing in the semi-finals of the CL against Inter, the eventual winner.
