A big name from the English championship went out of his way to secure the services of French goalkeeper, Mike Maignan.

Mike Maignan continues to make the best days of the Italian club AC Milan. But, he could very well have moved during the last transfer window. A big English club pushed hard to snatch him from the Rossonerri.

According to Corriere dello Sport, it was Chelsea who tried to bet on the French international. The Blues were motivated to complete the deal, but were dampened by Milan’s financial demands. The Lombards demanded at least 80 million euros to release their goalkeeper.

Status quo for Maignan

Ultimately, Chelsea had to fall back on a goalkeeper of lesser renown. They recruited Danish goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen (Villarreal). And we can’t say that it’s a huge success.

Maignan continues to distinguish himself with the seven-time European champions. He had a difficult evening in the Champions League against Liverpool. However, he has made up for it since then, with a great performance delivered during the victorious derby against Inter last weekend (2-1).
