Newcastle 1 Southampton 0 – Saturday 17 August 3pm

The photo that Newcastle United fans had all really really wanted to see today.

Especially having gone a man down after only 28 minutes.

It looked a massive uphill climb at that point, with Fabian Schar banished for a red card after outrageous cheating by Ben Brereton Diaz.

Daft by Schar to give the cheat the opportunity by going head to head but no excuse for that, the same if it was one of our players trying to get someone sent off like that.

Anyway, all is well that ends well.

Joelinton topping off a man of the match performance with a cool winning goal on the stroke of half-time.

Krafth on for Murphy in a tactical move to cover Schar’s loss and what an effort from that point by all the players.

Another winning snapshot post-match.

Another photo =  The first of this season.

The Newcastle United Head Coach introduced this tradition of a post-match everybody included photo following each victory, as he felt it had worked as a bonding exercise when he was at Bournemouth.

Great to see.

It is also a massive bonus just how much it winds up fans of certain other clubs and journalists.

‘Look at them, think they have won the Premier League / Champions League… etc etc’

I absolutely love it.

Thirty seven more Premier League games to go and hopefully many more photos to come.

It took a while for me to find a sheepish looking Fabian Schar in this photo…
