Nottingham Forest 1 Newcastle 1 – United win 4-3 on penalties : Wednesday 28 August 8pm
The photo that Newcastle United fans had all really really wanted to see tonight.
United going a goal up on 18 seconds.
Then very quickly Tonali released to make it 2-0, only for the giant 6ft 8 home keeper to make the save when one on one.
Forest getting back into the game with a deserved equaliser after half-time, though United finished the stronger and could/should have won it.
Straight to penalties and with Forest winning the toss and taking the first penalty, they ended 3-1 up thanks to Joelinton seeing his effort saved.
However, with the Toon scoring all of their next three and Forest hitting the bar and the back row of the stand with their last two, it was wild celebrations for the black and whites, on and off the pitch.
Anyway, all is well that ends well.
Another winning snapshot post-match.
Another photo = The second of this season.
The Newcastle United Head Coach introduced this tradition of a post-match everybody included photo following each victory, as he felt it had worked as a bonding exercise when he was at Bournemouth.
Great to see.
It is also a massive bonus just how much it winds up fans of certain other clubs and journalists.
‘Look at them, think they have won the Premier League / Champions League… etc etc’
I absolutely love it.
Thirty six more Premier League games to go, as well as fingers crossed plenty more cup matches, so hopefully many more photos to come.
