The Imo State Government has dismissed as fake, malicious, and unfounded the circulating posters suggesting that Governor Hope Uzodinma is running for Vice President in 2027 alongside APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
In a press statement, State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, attributed the spread of these posters on social media to “mischief makers trying to cause friction between the governor and Mr. President.” He emphasized, “At no time has the governor contemplated running for such an office.”
Emelumba further stated, “Everyone in Nigeria is quite aware that Uzodimma is one of the fiercest supporters of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and has canvassed national support for him to succeed in his assignment. It is both laughable and preposterous.”
He accused opponents of the current federal administration of propagating fake news to “sow a seed of discord between Tinubu and his core loyalists.” The Commissioner noted that after the failure of a recent violent protest aimed at destabilizing the government, the opposition has now turned to spreading falsehoods to divide the ruling party.
Emelumba urged those spreading these lies to “desist from their serpentine activities capable of undermining the peaceful coexistence between the federal and state governments.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma has no Vice Presidential ambition, either now or in 2027. Any information to the contrary is fake, malicious, and spurious and should therefore be ignored,” he concluded.
