Just days before their much-awaited trip to the United States, FC Barcelona conducted a friendly game against Olot.

It was the first unofficial game in charge for new coach Hansi Flick, who deployed a series of youngsters as part of his plans to assess the squad ahead of the new season.

The likes of Noah Darvich, Guillermo Fernandez and Antonio Fernandez started the game against Olot, hoping to make an impression.

Who impressed against Olot?

However, very few players who started against Olot were actually able to impress, as Barcelona secured a narrow 1-0 victory.

As reported by SPORT, there were three standout performers from Barcelona’s narrow victory over Olot, all of whom came on as substitutes at the half-time break.

Pablo Torre, for one, was the obvious headline maker as the young midfielder scored the only goal of the game. Coming back from a mixed spell at Girona, Torre impressively dribbled past a couple of defenders to score the winner.

Another player who impressed on the day was Marc Bernal. The 17-year-old midfield prodigy looked good in the centre of the park and looks set to have earned himself more opportunities.

Apart from Bernal and Torre, Marc Casado, too, had a solid game against Olot. Having recently signed a new contract at Barcelona, the youngster showed excellent technical skill and made sure Olot did not cause any problems on the counter.

The performance of these young midfielders is a major positive for Barcelona, who are currently short on numbers in the middle of the park.

While Pedri is hopeful of returning to action soon, Barcelona still have him, Gavi and Frenkie de Jong out on the sidelines.

The likes of Bernal, Torre and Casado, therefore, can emerge as excellent in-house alternatives for Barcelona in the number six position.

However, these are still early days and it will be interesting to see whether or not these players can continue their momentum as Barcelona embark on a crucial trip across the Atlantic.
