Thunder Rosa has enjoyed having Mercedes Moné as part of the women’s locker room in AEW.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Thunder Rosa was a recent guest on Gabby AF. When asked about the recent arrival of Mercedes Moné, Rosa said having one of the most prominent women’s wrestlers in the locker room sets a precedent for them.
“I think, and this is not just talking about AEW but I’m talking about women’s athletics in general. The fact that she is one of the most prominent and best-paid female wrestler athletes in history just sets a precedent for a lot of us,” Thunder Rosa said. “Especially being a woman of color. She is a hustler, she is a go-getter, she is the type of woman that doesn’t take no as an answer, and when she gets a no, she makes it a yes.
“So, that to me is very commendable because a lot of the time, we feel that we have to take it, and we have to take what they give us. But she’s taken all the risks, and a lot of them pay off for her, and when you see that, and you see when you invest, and you bet on yourself, and it pays off regardless of the criticism, regardless of the setbacks, regardless of anything else, I admire that in a woman; in any person for that matter.
“But her specifically, that can be — especially with men, they might say that she’s too aggressive or it would be thought of as something different, that is not in a positive way. I don’t see it that way. I enjoy having her in the locker room. She’s been wonderful to me. Her team, I know a lot of the people that she works with. We have previous relationships in passing in other organizations. And it’s really wonderful to see where she’s taking her own career and taking the bull by the horns, right?
“She’s playing with music, she’s doing Hollywood, she’s very studious in the ring with everything that she does. She takes this very serious. Every time I see her, I try to learn from her. It’s interesting to see how she navigates this world. Because being one of the biggest wrestling stars that she is, she gets a lot of flak from it. For me, it’s a learning experience knowing that she’s been in the business for a while, too, and she’s been very successful.
“In terms of AEW, I’m just watching, waiting. Again, everything’s in cycles, so hopefully, I get to work with her in a cycle. It would be very interesting to see storylines and everything, right? Where are we gonna start, where is all of this gonna start, or whatever? But if you ask me, she’s a great addition to the locker room.”
