Saudi Arabia have tried to woo a key player in the Madrid dressing room with a colossal offer.

After an exceptional season with Real Madrid, marked by titles in La Liga and the Champions League, Vinicius Jr finds himself at the centre of discussions for the 2025 Ballon d’Or. Although the Brazilian forward’s future seems firmly anchored at the Santiago Bernabéu, this has not deterred some suitors, notably in Saudi Arabia, according to information from The Athletic.

The British newspaper reveals that the Kingdom has launched an offensive to attract Vinicius Jr, with an astronomical offer whose amount remains unknown. This move is in line with the recruitments of Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr) in January 2023, then Neymar (Al-Hilal) and Karim Benzema (Al-Ittihad) the following summer.

Indeed, the Saudi Pro League aimed to make the Madrid number 7 “the new face” of its championship, with a view to the 2030 World Cup that the Persian Gulf country will organize.

However, as expected, the Saudi offer did not convince the Auriverde. Especially since the merengue club took care to protect its star with a release clause set at 1 billion euros, in addition to a contract valid until June 2027.
