Tia Mowry has clarified her viral comment about no longer being “close” to her twin, Tamera Mowry.
“This is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them,” she told Us Weekly on Tuesday.
“We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives. That is what that was all about.”

It’s called life.”
Tia, 46, explained to Us that Tamera, also 46, doesn’t live nearby. While Tia resides in Los Angeles near their father Timothy and brother Tahj, Tamera settled in Napa, Calif., with her husband, Adam Housley, and kids Aden, 11, and Ariah, 9.
It takes about six hours to drive between Los Angeles and Napa.
Their other brother, Tavior Mowry, meanwhile, lives in Tennessee.
She further explained she was referring to the distance between herself and Tamera. WeTV Tia lives in Los Angeles, while Tamera lives with her husband and children in Napa, Calif. WeTV“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much,” Tia further commented on the buzz her statement caused over the weekend.
“We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”
Tia had fans concerned on Friday when she vented about her recent divorce from Cory Hardict as well as her relationship with Tamera in a preview for her new WE tv show, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act.”
“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” she said. “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her but that’s just not where we are right now.”

Fans immediately assumed she and Tamera were not in a good place, though an insider told Page Six that Tia was referring to the physical distance between them.
Tia told Us Weekly that Tamera was “not surprised” by the fanfare her comment caused.
“When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is,” she noted.
