Joe Exotic is engaged. On Monday (October 28), the 61-year-old star of Netflix’s Tiger King, who is currently serving a 21-year prison sentence, announced that he is engaged to fellow inmate Jorge Marquez. “Meet Jorge Marquez he is 33. He is so amazing and is from Mexico,” Joe wrote on X along with a photo of his new fiancé. Keep reading to find out more…“Now, the quest of getting married in prison and getting him asylum or we be leaving America when we both get out,” Joe continued. “Either way, I wish I would have met him long ago.” Then in a phone interview with Entertainment Weekly, Joe, whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado, shared more details about the process he and Jorge have to go through in order to get married in prison. “We filed our official papers for the marriage license from the prison yesterday, so we’re just waiting for an approval,” Joe explained. “He has picked out Dec. 12 as the date we’re hoping to get this approved by.” He went on to say that their application “has to be approved by the warden and psychiatry and the chaplain” before their license can be approved. “We love each other very much, spend every minute of the day together,” Joe added. “I’ve been through some s–t in my days,” he continued. “I buried two husbands, the third one ran off with 2.6 million bucks from Netflix and left my ass here, but Jorge is a very amazing young man.” Joe was previously married to Travis Maldonado, who passed away after accidentally shooting himself in 2017.
