If someone is sharing misogynistic or sexist takes on TikTok, there’s a high likelihood that Drew Afualo is being tagged in the comments. When you hear her signature laugh stitched to a video, you can expect the floodgates to be opened as she unleashes one of her viral takedowns with the singular goal of shoveling unsolicited, outdated, patriarchal ideals off of TikTok. Drew’s take-no-prisoners attitude towards ridding the internet of “terrible men” and content aimed at putting down women has earned her a following of over nine million as well as the unofficial title of TikTok’s “Crusader for Women.”
In addition to being a preeminent feminist content creator, Drew has launched two media platforms: her hit Spotify-exclusive show “The Comment Section,” and “Two Idiot Girls,” a podcast she co-hosts with her sister Deison Afualo. Most recently, she published her first book, “LOUD: Accept Nothing Less Than the Life You Deserve.” Described as “part manual, part manifesto, and part memoir,” “LOUD” aims to empower readers with the unapologetic confidence Drew has become beloved for and equip women and femmes to stand in their greatness.
To celebrate the launch of “LOUD,” Drew stopped by the Page Six studio to drink with us and play a round of "Show the Shot or Take the Shot." She chatted with us about her rise to TikTok fame, the in-between jobs she worked before that (cue the “Moana” soundtrack), and the process of creating her new book. She also dished on what it was like meeting Beyoncé earlier this year and her latest podcast kiki with rising pop phenom, Chappell Roan.
