Tim Howard is adamant that former Manchester United manager David Moyes was better than Sir Alex Ferguson.

The goalkeeper played for Man United and Everton in the Premier League. He spent four years at Old Trafford while at Everton, he managed to spend 10 years.

In spite of winning the FA Cup and League Cup with United, Howard found it difficult to maintain his position in the starting line up during his second season in Manchester, frequently switching positions with Roy Carroll.

Any dreams of playing for the first team were however dashed with the arrival of Edwin van der Sar in 2005, who signed a loan deal to join Everton. This quickly turned into a permanent move.

Over the span of ten years, Howard made an incredible 414 appearances on Merseyside, thriving there and even spending many seasons playing in Europe.

Howard feels that Moyes is a superior manager than the legendary Ferguson because of his tenure at Everton. The former international player for the United States exclusively told Mirror Football:

“(Best manager?) David Moyes. I spent nearly a decade with him.

“He bought me to the football club and loved me and my teammates, cared about us and created a family bond. We won a lot of games, had a few good cup runs, in Europe a bit. Yeah, David Moyes, brilliant.”

Moyes would depart Everton for United in 2013, taking over from the same boss Howard had once worked for. However, he did not have as much success at United as his predecessor had.

Moyes would end up winning nothing as United’s manager at the end of the 2013–14 campaign. Meanwhile, Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and two Champions Leagues in contrast to that.
