A former member of the National Assembly, Wumi Ogunlola, has said President Bola Tinubu administration cannot solve the problems confronting the country overnight.

Ogunlola, who represented Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II at the House of Representatives, urged Nigerians to give Tinubu more time to implement his renewed hope agenda, which she said would catapult Nigeria to greatness at the fullness of time.

The former federal lawmaker and the newly appointed federal commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, who spoke in a chat with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, also lauded Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for his performance in office in the last two years.

She said that the country was in an intensive care unit gasping for survival breath before the president came into office, stating, “The Tinubu administration is only rectifying the missteps of the past through the implementation of reforms and strategic innovations.

“It is impossible for the President Tinubu administration to solve the preponderance of challenges plaguing the country overnight. Things will soon change for the better.

“All these things we are experiencing started from somewhere, but we don’t always acquaint our mind with the fact that some people started these things, and we are the ones bearing the brunt. It is because there are some people who have made some mistakes in the time past.

“But I have listened to the President say that by the time he would finish his four years, if he had not done it well, they should vote against him. It is because he’s so sure of what he is doing and the expected results.”

The former lawmaker said that the Ekiti electorate took the right decision for voting Oyebanji as governor in 2022, saying he had lived up to the people’s expectations with his giant stride across all the sectors, which she said has brought a new lease of life to the state.

Ogunlola said, “Mr Governor has exceedingly done well for the Ekiti people. He’s touching everywhere; this is a governor who goes to visit people. He is unprecedented. Even former governor Ayodele Fayose, who is street-wise, did not take it to that extent.

“As Fayose said, Oyebanji has come; he saw the mistakes that all of them made, and he’s correcting them.

“Oyebanji has six strategic points agenda, and you found out that this man has touched everything. Give it to him in the areas of governance. This man has been able to make people proud.

“He’s a governor who listens to people; he listens to what they want. He doesn’t stop at that; when he listens, he tries to address it. This man has been able to make people proud.”
