Tinubu Reacts As CJN Leaves Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON, on his retirement as Chief Justice of Nigeria, marking the end of a distinguished public service career.

Justice Ariwoola, who served as a Justice of the Court of Appeal in Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos divisions, was elevated to the Supreme Court in 2011 and sworn in as Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2022. Throughout his career, he held various key roles within the judiciary, contributing significantly to the nation’s legal framework.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, conveyed President Tinubu’s commendation for the jurist’s dedication to the nation. The president recognized Justice Ariwoola’s impactful leadership of the judiciary, his contributions to enriching Nigerian jurisprudence, and his efforts to strengthen the legal system.

“The President thanks Justice Ariwoola and wishes him the very best for the future,” Ngelale stated.

Additionally, Ngelale announced that President Tinubu will swear in Justice Ariwoola’s successor at the State House Council Chambers on August 23, 2024.
