Funded by the designated 3 per cent of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), the allocation aimed to empower PWDs economically, enhance their social inclusion, and improve their overall well-being.

The items included, a deep freezer, refrigerator, wheel chair, oven and cake mixer, barbering equipment, toiletries, cartons of chicken wings, sausage and red fish.

The rest were, 3 male goats, mobile money kits, a box of wax, bale of kaliko cloth, bale of men’s jeans, baby clothes and bedsheets and provisions, all amounting to GH¢147,830.77

At a brief ceremony to present the items to them, the Coordinating Director of TMA, John Nana Owoo, explained that the 23 persons were approved out over 100 applications received and vetted, explaining that it was based on the total fund available at the time of approval, assuring that every PWD who applied for support would have their turn.

He reminded the beneficiaries that the purpose of the support was to help improve their socioeconomic lives, urging them to keep the items well to serve their intended purposes.

He said the TMA would detail a monitoring team to ascertain the use of the support, cautioning them against sale or misuse of the items.

Head of Social Welfare and Community Development at TMA, Gilbert Mensah Gbley, stated that the initiative underscored the commitment of government and the Assembly to foster inclusivity and support the empowerment of persons with disabilities in education, health and livelihood.
