The last TNA Xplosion taped before TNA Slammiversary took place on the July 19th edition of TNA Xplosion.
The show opens with a huge clash, featuring the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. As it was taped before the pay per view, Moose was the reigning champion at the time of recording. He made quick work of Bhupinder Gujjar. Moose’s size and power were no match for his opponent, and pinned him following a powerbomb and spear combination.
This was followed by a “From The Vault” match, which showed a match from TNA Slammiversary 2014. The match saw Eric Young, Austin Aries and Bobby Lashley battling for the TNA World Championship inside a steel cage match.
Despite all the odds against him, Eric Young reversed a Brainbuster by Aries, hitting a piledriver on the former WWE star. Lashley was locked out of the cage, so couldn’t break up the pin as Eric Young retained his title.
They followed this with “Around The Ring” with Gia Miller. She was joined by JDC, in what she called a “special, special interview”. They talked about him debuting on TNA back in 2003, wrestling on Xplosion as Johnny Curtis for 3 or 4 matches.
“In Case You Missed It”.
This was followed by “In Case You Missed It” segment, as TNA Xplosion replayed the tag team championship match from last week’s TNA Impact. They showed The Hardys taking on The System, just one night before Slammiversary 2024.
The System retained their belts, after JDC attacked Jeff Hardy. He wrapped a chair around the WWE legend’s neck, throwing him into the ring post with great force. Hardy was carried out on a stretcher, taking him out of the pay per view.
This was followed by the main event of Xplosion. Brian Myers took on ABC’s Ace Austin in a singles match, building to a tag team title clash further down the line. Brian Myers took control of the match, keeping Austin grounded as he tried to wear him down.
Ace Austin managed to rally a few times, but looked destined to lose. He looked down and out, but hit his finished, “the fold” out of nowhere to beat one half of the tag team champions.
