Despite shelling out a whopping £100.5 million on two forwards in the last two summers, Manchester United will again be in the market for a prolific No.9 when the window reopens.

Indeed, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee far from the calibre required to lead the line at Old Trafford, INEOS’ hand will likely be forced into another mega-money deal to adequately bolster Ruben Amorim’s attack.

One name believed to be among the transfer chiefs’ list of targets is Victor Osimhen, who’s long been linked with the Red Devils – particularly since his Napoli switch in 2020, which saw him quickly establish himself as one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe.

🚨 Victor Osimhen is keen on a transfer to Manchester United, although they will need to beat several major clubs to the signing of the 26-year-old Nigerian.

Yet, a deal never came to fruition, primarily because the Serie A outfit were reluctant to part ways with their main man.

That was until last year, however, when Osimhen’s relationship with manager Antonio Conte broke down after the 2023/2024 campaign. He was expected to complete a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia before the deal collapsed, after which he joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

His outstanding form has only continued in Turkey, with the Nigerian international boasting 20 goals and five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions – taking his career tally up to a sensational 134 goals since his breakthrough in 2017.

Reports have even suggested United would be willing to utilise Hojlund as a makeweight in a move for Osimhen. The 21-year-old hasn’t found the back of the net in the Premier League this year, with his most recent goal coming at the start of December.

Nonetheless, Osimhen was pressed on his situation by Turkish reporters recently, presumably due to the speculation surrounding his long-term future.

“To be honest, I don’t know. You know, the last few months, nobody ever thought I would come here. I never believed I would come to Galatasaray despite how big they are,” said the 39-capped international, as cited by UtdDistrict.

“I live for the moment. I don’t know what will happen in the summer, but I want everybody to understand that I really love this club. I love the fans, I love the president, I love everyone associated with the club. It’s really a big deal to be here, and I’m really enjoying my time here.”
