To The Other Side: Update On Gable Steveson’s Future In WWE And Amateur Wrestling

That’s a door closed. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and several of them have backgrounds in other sports. At the same time, there are a fair few who have a background in amateur wrestling, with some of them having quite the success. One of the most successful wrestlers of all time is part of WWE and now we have a major update on his status.

University of Minnesota wrestling coach Brandon Eggum released a video on Twitter where he announced that WWE star Gable Steveson will not be returning to the team. Eggum said that WWE is preferring Steveson to focus on his professional wrestling career, effectively ending his amateur wrestling career at the moment. Steveson is a former NCAA Heavyweight Champion and Olympic gold medal winner. He has wrestled a handful of matches at NXT live events, plus one televised match at the 2023 Great American Bash.
