Tom is taking off the Venom mask to narrate a Paramount+ factual series about elite military forces.
The three-part Special Forces: Most Daring Missions will primarily follow the UK’s SAS, exploring its operations during incidents such as ‘Operation Nimrod’, the Iranian Embassy siege in London in 1980. Each episode of Most Daring Missions will celebrate a real life assignment undertaken by an elite military force.
Soho Studios Entertainment and Two Rivers Media are co-producing, with Sphere Abacus handling international sales. This is the same set up for Travels With Agatha With David Suchet, which is due to launch with fanfare at MIPCOM Cannes next week.
Ian Lamarra, Alan Clements and Hardy will exec produce the show, with Robert Neill (Cassius X: Becoming Ali) the series producer and David Whitney (Dogs of War) series director. Sphere Abacus will begin shopping the title internationally on the Croisette at MIP.
Federico Ruiz, Commissioning Editor, Factual and Non-Scripted at Paramount+ ordered the show, which is likely to launch on the service in the UK and Ireland later this year.
“We are really excited to have one of Hollywood’s biggest actors, and one of Britain’s greatest exports, narrating this brand new series,” said Ruiz. “When you watch their extraordinary stories, it’s clear that the real-life exploits and bravery of these soldiers would put most silver screen superheroes to shame.”
Lamarra, who founded the Endeavor-backed Soho Studios, said it “feels like a hugely important time in the market to be producing internationally appealing shows for a streamer.” He added the brand could expand to the likes of the Navy Seals, Marine Corps and Green Berets. “Tom Hardy is the perfect narrator for this series,” said Lamarra. “He is incredibly knowledgable, absolutely passionate and respectful of the subject with his voice adding a really premium flavour.”
Alan Clements, MD of Two Rivers Media added: “Two Rivers Media is thrilled to be co-producing this high-adrenaline action series for Paramount+ and the international market and it represents a key step on our path to becoming a world-class premium documentary producer.”
