Tommaso Ciampa wants the tag team division to get a bigger spotlight in the WWE.
Despite having some top teams in the division, tag teams have found themselves left off WWE PLEs this year. The men’s tag team belts haven’t been on the line at a WWE PLE since WrestleMania 40. While they have featured regularly on Raw and Smackdown, Tommaso Ciampa wants to see the tag team division showcased more.
Tommaso Ciampa spoke with the Battleground Podcast about his hopes for WWE’s tag team division. He revealed that he wants more from the division, wanting to see them featured on Premium Live Events more than they are.
“Being on the inside of that, I always want more, and I always want it to go faster. But I think that’s the normal nature of any competitive—it’s not even just sport—any competitive business. You always want more than you’re getting, and you want it to happen faster than it’s happening.”
“It’s exciting to see tag teams getting that light shown on them. For example, the last two or three pay-per-views, we’ve had pretty decent profile matches on SmackDown the night before, which is awesome because it’s a similar crowd, similar energy level, etc.”
“Now what we want is to get on the premium live events. Like, you watch France crowd from home, or you watch something like SummerSlam from home, and you’re just like, ‘Well, that’s the best crowd you’re gonna get.’ Even when we just did a tour of Germany, every night was a great crowd, but the Berlin crowd was by far the best one. You want to be a part of that—commercial-free, most eyes on you, biggest stage possible.”
“So, it’s very cool that the Tag Division is starting to get some prominence, but boy, do we want more, you know? And I think that’s just the nature of the beast.”
