Tommaso Ciampa says it’d be cool to have a match between #DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns happen on the WWE stage.
In recent weeks, multiple outlets have reported that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, collectively known as the Motor City Machine Guns, have signed with WWE. The former TNA World Tag Team Champions have held titles around the wrestling world.
Speaking with Tim Battle on the Battleground Podcast, Tommaso Ciampa was asked about the Motor City Machine Guns possibly coming to WWE. He was also asked about a potential match between the former TNA stars and #DIY.
“I think that’s the natural go-to, at least from what I see and hear,” Ciampa said. “For whatever reason, whether it’s our styles or just our size or whatever, everyone seems to always pair us and those guys together. They’ve influenced tag team wrestling for two decades now. We’ve taken stuff from them and concepts from them and ideas from them.
“I’ve actually never wrestled either one of them in singles or tag my entire career, so it would be really cool to have that happen on the WWE stage for the first time. I know Johnny’s got a pretty good relationship with Shelley, he’s known him forever. I love those guys, he loves those guys.”
Tommaso Ciampa Welcomes Competition
Ciampa continued by noting that WWE stars see the same rumors that fans do. He said he’d welcome the Motor City Machine Guns, as he embraced competition. Ciampa expressed his hope that they will join the company.
“We see the same rumors that you all see, and shoot man, if we can get that tag division to a point where we got four, five, six different top acts going at once, that’s when you’re in it. So the more competitor, the merrier. I welcome that,” Ciampa said. “That elevates your game, it forces you to elevate. I think the crowd will take to them extremely fast and really well. So I hope it happens. I probably want it to happen even more than some of the fans want it to happen.”
