On Tuesday, Toni Kroos announced that he would retire at the end of this summer’s Euros, which he will play at home with Germany.

The 34-year-old will therefore play his last match for Real Madrid in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund. Tributes have been pouring in for Kroos, including from teammate Lucas Vazquez, who posted a heartfelt message on Instagram.

“How much you devastated me. One of the greatest privileges I’ve had in my career was playing with you. How much time we spent and how much we accomplished. You are a Real Madrid legend, my friend. I wish you the best. I will miss you very much “.

“A Real Madrid legend”

On X, Lucas was a little less kind, as he sent a hilarious X-rated message to his soon-to-be former Real Madrid teammate. A scathing “Fuck you…..”.

It’s clear that Kroos is very popular at Real Madrid, and his departure is a big blow for next season. All parties will be hoping to end their relationship on a high with a fifteenth Champions League/European Cup title.
