Tony D’Angelo is all about tradition.
The NXT North American Champion spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of Halloween Havoc about his favorite Halloween traditions. “Tony D” said his family loved to decorate each year, and it would get bigger every time. He said it was such a success that his home was featured on the local news for the spooky-themed decor.
“My dad is really good at building woodwork and stuff like that. He would just make these immaculate — he made a castle one time just out of plywood. It was crazy. But, funny enough our house, I don’t know how old I was, our house made the news for one of the best houses in the town. It was a tradition every year. We’d decorate the entire house.”
“I lived in a two-flat. Me and my family lived upstairs. My grandparents lived on the first floor. And then they renovated the basement to basically another apartment. And then I had my aunt and uncle, and cousins living down there. So, we had a full house. Everybody had a role. One year I was a werewolf. My dad was Michael Myers. Somebody was a big bat. It was great, a great part of my childhood.”
D’Angelo said he’d love to keep those traditions alive when he has children of his own. He also said his appreciation for the fall season is not just relegated to Halloween, either.
“I love Halloween, I love everything about it. It’s fun and the kids come and get candy and take pictures and whatnot. So, it’s definitely a pretty cool time of the year. And I like fall. It’s football weather, pumpkin pie, apple pie. My grandmother makes the best apple pie. So, whenever the time comes, I’m looking forward to it.”
