AEW President Tony Khan shared his thoughts on AEW Rampage and its future.
While speaking on the AEW Full Gear Media Call, Tony Khan opened up about the Media Rights Renewal with Warner Bros. Media. While speaking he revealed that the deal did not include AEW Rampage. But Khan is still interested in keeping Rampage alive as he loved doing AEW Rampage.
“I am still working on our media rights. We got a great, great deal done with Warner Bros Discovery. It’s a massive increase in our revenue, making several times more and producing the four hours of television that you reference with Dynamite every Wednesday on TBS. Also now streaming on Max and Collision every week on TNT, also streaming on Max. For Rampage, it’s been something I really enjoy doing since 2021. In the deal, we got where it’s focused on these four hours of television. It’s not currently in the package of our Warner Bros. Discovery media rights deal.
“I think going forward, there’s a lot of opportunities for AEW. And we’ve talked about trying to grow the brand internationally and domestically. And… As far as Rampage goes, that show or potentially other AEW content got a lot places where it could live. All of our focus in 2024 on the business side had to be on our Media Rights renewal with Warner Bros. Discovery. They have been our partner from day one. And the most important thing that we could do was extend that huge relationship for us.”
Tony Khan on working with Mr. David Zaslav and the rest
Khan also shared his thoughts on Mr. David Zaslav and how the team has been working to improve and increase revenue for Warner Bros. Media.
“And I’ve spent a lot of time working with Mr. David Zaslav, and Bruce Campbell, and the great team at Warner Bros. Discovery throughout this year, working to keep AEW at TBS and TNT. It’s important to us and it’s important to Mr. Zaslav who told me so. And it means a lot to be wanted and to be valued as part of the family. And we got a big media rights renewal with a big increase for AEW and the revenue puts AEW in a great position. Also, allows us to add new value.
“I think we’ve done really well for TBS and TNT for viewership for several years. And we continue to be a top show with Dynamite on TBS and Collision on TNT. And going forward, we can add even more value now as a streaming property on Max. Rampage is a show I love. And I loved doing for the past three years. As far as where it lives or what AEW shows outside of Dynamite and Collision we’ll be running next year, I think something that still remains to be revealed. And we’re still working on things. But the biggest things for us are the things that we’ve accomplished with announcing Dynamite and Collision. And the plans for streaming on Max and I think everybody should stay tuned as to the future of Rampage or other AEW programming,” Tony Khan said.
