According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Everton star and Manchester United target Jarrad Branthwaite.

In order to strengthen their defense, the North London team have already signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa during the January transfer window.

The Daily Mail article claims that Spurs, meanwhile, are eager to recruit the Everton star in addition to the Dragusin signing.

The report states that Tottenham are interested in Branthwaite because of his homegrown status and may make a move for him either in January or in the summer transfer window.

Everton may be obliged to sell Branthwaite in order to improve their current financial situation, which would allow Spurs to formalise their interest in signing the defender.

Daily Mail has claimed that Manchester United have been considering signing Branthwaite, while Chelsea and Manchester City are also in the race to sign the Everton player. Spurs will thus have fierce competition from their rivals to complete any possible deal involving the Englishman.

Man United are looking to strengthen their defense as it has looked shaky all season and the futures of Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are all uncertain.

The Red Devils have been linked to a number of players, including Jean-Clair Todibo, Goncalo Inacio, and Antonio Silva, but the club chiefs are also considering Branthwaite.

The 21-year-old has been performing well for the Merseyside club this season, and it looks like United and Spurs have the intention to buy him after being pleased with his recent performances.
