Tottenham are reportedly eyeing up the potential transfer of Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye, and it seems he could be available this summer.

The talented 19-year-old has not been at Barca for that long, and has only played for their B team, so it could be that he’ll be on his way out of the club soon.

Faye looks a fine talent, however, so it’s perhaps not too surprising that there’s a lot of interest in him at the moment, with Sport stating that Spurs are among his suitors, along with the likes of Girona, Nice and Lens.

The report suggests Barcelona would be happy to take the opportunity to make a profit on Faye, so this interest could be good news for them if they need to ensure they’re on the right side of Financial Fair Play restrictions before making signings this summer.

Faye transfer: Can Tottenham win the race for his signature?

Even if Spurs are showing an interest in the Senegalese youngster, it seems they’re not the only ones, so it remains to be seen how easy it will be for them to see off competition in the race for his signature.

Faye might be tempted to stay in La Liga with someone like Girona, while as a French speaker he might also be more interested in playing for a Ligue 1 club than moving to the Premier League at this stage of his career.

Tottenham might be well placed to offer big money, however, due to wealth of the Premier League these days, while the lure of living in London might also be tempting for Faye, as it is for so many players.

One imagines this situation should become clearer soon, while the report also adds that Barcelona still need to decide on potentially including a buy-back clause in any Faye sale.
