Tottenham: Heung-min Son speaks out after Rodrigo Bentancur’s racist blunder

The controversy started from a conversation between Rodrigo Bentancur and a journalist. The journalist asked him for a jersey: “Can you get me the Korean’s jersey?”to which Bentancur asked ” Her ? “ and the journalist answered him “or any other champion?”The midfielder slipped and answered him: “or any of Sonny’s cousins, they all look more or less the same!”. A response to which the journalist agreed… The controversy swelled and anti-racism associations seized on the subject. The Uruguayan then apologized to his teammate. Heung-min Son and Tottenham wanted to speak out today.

“I spoke with Lolo. He made a mistake, he knows it and he apologized. Lolo would never mean to say anything hurtful. We are brothers and nothing has changed at all. We are past that, we are united, and we will be back together in pre-season to fight for our club as one man.”he wanted to communicate after the controversy. The club also expressed its support for their captain Heung-min Son: “We fully support the fact that our captain Sonny feels he can put the incident behind him and the team can focus on the new season ahead.”.
