Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Alex Baena from Villarreal in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Baena has a release clause of €60 million in his contract at Spanish club Villarreal, and that Tottenham are considering making a big offer for the 23-year-old.
Baena has been on the books of Villarreal since the summer of 2011 and has established himself in the first team after coming through the youth academy. The 23-year-old can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a left winger and is one of the best young players in Spain.
The Spain international has made 10 starts and one substitute appearance in La Liga for Villarreal so far this season. Baena has scored one goal and provided five assists in those games. The Spain international scored two goals and provided 14 assists in 33 starts and one substitute appearance in the league for the Yellow Submarine last season.
