Tottenham have joined fellow Premier League clubs in the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, according to HITC.
Given that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to leave, the London giants will probably bolster their midfield this summer.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Leicester City has already been linked to Tottenham this month, and HITC now reports that Spurs may offer his teammate Ndidi a deal.
The Nigerian player has spent the last seven years with the Foxes, but even if they are promoted back to the Premier League, it seems increasingly probable that he will leave.
Ndidi’s contract expires on June 30, at which point he will be available for a free transfer.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also interested in signing him, so Spurs are not the only team after him.
Since Ange Postecoglou became the team’s manager last summer, Hojbjerg has been a benchwarmer.
Tottenham need reinforcement in the midfield
When Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma were in the Africa Cup of Nations, the Dane played frequently, but he has now been benched once more.
Wilfred Ndidi to Tottenham? He will probably move on this summer since Rodrigo Bentancur will be giving him more competition.
Ndidi may be considered as Hojbjerg’s replacement at the end of the season.
With 192 matches under his belt in the Premier League, the 27-year-old has plenty of experience.
The Foxes have relied heavily on his presence in their pursuit of a Championship promotion, and they have suffered this season anytime he has missed time due to injury.
Tottenham face competition to sign the midfielder
Next season, the £75,000-a-week star seems to be eyeing a more ambitious challenge.
Although he could not be guaranteed regular playing time, Spurs might provide him a chance to play in the Champions League once more.
He may wind up at Wolverhampton Wanderers or Brighton & Hove Albion, who are reportedly interested in signing him, if he prioritizes his minutes.
