Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Everton midfielder James Garner at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has established himself as a quality young midfielder in the Premier League and he has been a key player for Everton this season.
Garner joined Everton from Manchester United in 2022 for a fee of around £15 million and he has certainly lived up to the expectations so far. Everton will probably want to hold onto him for the long term but they need to secure their safety in the Premier League first.
They cannot hope to hold onto their best players if they go down to the Championship at the end of the season.
A report from TeamTalk claims that Tottenham are now lining up a summer move for the hard-working midfielder and they will face competition from Newcastle United. Tottenham need a central midfielder who will help out defensively and add pressing ability to the side. They were keen on signing the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and it seems that Garner is an alternative to the 24-year-old.
Meanwhile, Newcastle need more depth in the middle of the park as well and Garner could form a quality partnership alongside Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes next season.

The 22-year-old is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. He could develop into a key player for the two English clubs.
Garner will want to compete at a high level and Tottenham might be able to provide him with European football next season. The opportunity to join the north London club could be a tempting proposition for him.
