Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
The 21-year-old has been a key player for Everton this season and his performances have attracted the attention of the top clubs. A report from Football Insider claims that Spurs are keen on the player, but they are unlikely to pay a premium for him at the end of the season.
Tottenham have already signed players like Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season and they are unlikely to spend a substantial amount of money on another central defender. There is no doubt that they could use more depth in the defensive unit but they will probably look at cheaper alternatives now.
The report from Football Insider adds that Manchester United are in pole position to sign the defender. Tottenham’s stance will only come as a boost for the Red Devils who will now look to secure his services.
The 21-year-old is capable of competing at the highest level and he has the tools to develop into a top class Premier League defender with the right guidance.

Manchester United need to replace players like Jonny Evans at the end of the season and Branthwaite would be a superb future investment.
Everton are currently fighting the relegation battle and they could easily find themselves in the Championship next season. Branthwaite will want to compete in the top flight and a move to Tottenham or Manchester United could be an exciting opportunity for him at the end of the season.
