Tottenham have stolen a march on Arsenal and Chelsea by opening talks to sign one of European football’s most highly-rated youngsters.

Spurs have already been more active than the majority of their rivals in the January transfer window so far, having secured the loan signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

Radu Dragusin, meanwhile, was persuaded to join the Ange Postecoglou revolution in the white half of north London and snub a move to Bundesliga powerhouses Bayern Munich.

Not content with those investments, Spurs are now ploughing ahead with an ambitious move for Club Brugges winger Antonio Nusa.

The 18-year-old is coveted by a number of heavyweight European clubs but Tottenham are understood to have already begun negotiations over a €30m deal.

Nusa would prefer to remain in Belgium for the rest of the season and make a permanent move in the summer.

The winger, already a full Norway international, had been close to joining Chelsea on deadline day back in August but opted to remain with Brugges who were able to offer regular first team football.

The Norwegian spoke openly about his failed move to Stamford Bridge last month and said: ‘I already knew that it wasn’t going to happen now.

‘But then the money came on the table. Then it is seen in a slightly different way.

‘We had to have another conversation when the money arrived, but we were on the same page, so there was no problem there.’

Arsenal, too, have been monitoring Nusa’s situation given their long-term determination to sign a player capable of providing cover and competition for Bukayo Saka.

Nusa is known well to Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard who was impressed with the forward’s contribution against Spain during October’s Euro 2024 qualifier.

‘It’s nice to see Norwegian players who make themselves noticed like this,’ Odegaard told VG, via Voetbal Primeur.

‘As soon as Nusa came off the bench, he became dangerous.’
