Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has made an offer for Chelsea and Manchester United target Frenkie De Jong.

Jijantes via Sportwitness reports that Tottenham Hotspur have made an unexpected approach to sign Frenkie De Jong. To sign the Barcelona star, the north London club has made an offer of €60 million.

At Spurs, Ange Postecoglou has had a strong debut season. He has managed to impose his philosophy on the team and they are now playing a visually appealing style of football. If their squad had more depth, the start may have been even better.

Spurs lost their captain and star striker Harry Kane in the summer to Bayern Munich and they have still not replaced him yet. Even without a proper number nine, their season has been impressive.

It will take a few more additions for the Australian manager to have everything in place. Prioritising the signing of a top-tier midfielder and a new number nine will be their top priorities before the next season.

The north London team has already taken a significant step in their pursuit of the 26-year-old midfielder because they believe De Jong is a perfect match for Postecoglou’s style of play.

For the Dutch international, Spurs have made a bid that includes add-ons and is valued at €60 million. They are prepared to provide the player a chance to equal Barcelona’s salary and they have proposed a four-year deal.

They are set to face competition from their Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United. The Red Devils came close to signing de Jong in the summer of 2022 and even reached a deal with Barcelona, but the former Ajax midfielder rejected a move to Old Trafford.
