Ruben Amorim is preparing to make the move to the Premier League from Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon.

Every man and his dog will have their say on Erik ten Hag’s sacking to Amorim’s appointment. They’ll also have an opinion on the job that awaits the Portuguese coach.

Amorim has been warned to navigate choppy waters at United, with former striker Teddy Sheringham warning the incoming head coach that it is ‘a tough ship to sail’ at Old Trafford.

He will be going from a team unbeaten in the Primeira Liga to a team that have won just three of their first 10 league matches this season. It’s a huge task but there is a feeling he can get more out of the current players than Erik ten Hag, who won two trophies in his first two seasons at the club.

The Sporting manager to start work at United on November 11 as Ten Hag’s successor.

Speaking ahead of Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, Treble winner Sheringham shared his views on the new man.

“Ruben Amorim has a good record in Portugal, but he’s coming into one of the biggest clubs in the world and it’s a tough ship to sail,” Sheringham told Flashscore, as per DAZN.

“I love his youthfulness and the exuberance that follows him, but we’ll have to see what happens in sticky times because it’s a tough job to have at such a young age.

“I think Amorim is coming out and saying the right things, but until he’s in the hot seat we have no idea what to expect. We do know that Man Utd went out and got their man.

“Erik ten Hag could have gone a lot sooner in a lot of people’s eyes.  But they’ve gone out and got their man now and hopefully he’s right for the job.”

Sporting take on Man City in the Champions League tonight as Amorim gets to test himself against Pep Guardiola before his move to England.

Amorim has experienced nothing like this in his life.

We seen the scrutiny that was levelled at previous managers and Amorim will be no different.

He will be questioned on every little thing that happens at United and people will call for his head as soon as United lose a run of matches.
