Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has thrown his weight behind actress Toyin Abraham following the backlash received over the purported arrest of an X user’s mother.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) earlier reported that an X user had earlier called the actress out  stating that she had arrested his mother.

Addressing that, Toyin denied the claim, saying, “I never arrested your mum. Your friend Ayo was arrested for cyberbullying and cursing and defaming my family, and your mum went there saying she won’t leave without him.”

Amidst the controversy, netizens took to various social media platforms, berating Toyin for her actions.

Reacting, Saidi Balogun via his Instagram page on Wednesday, claimed that Toyin is emotionally being blackmailed because she is a celebrity.

The thespian also emphasized that celebrities deserve the same rights to protect their mental well-being as anyone else.

He stressed how everyone uses the police to arrest their neighbours for the smallest offence, but come on social media to bully Toyin Abraham because she is a celebrity.

He asserted that freedom should not be selective, adding that celebrities are human like everyone else.

He wrote, “You use police to arrest your neighbours for the most minor reasons, e reach celebrity turn, you say it’s bully.

“Stop the emotional blackmail. Celebrities are human, just like you. You are free to say what you like, right? Let celebrities be free to take whatever actions to protect their mental space. Freedom should not be selective. God bless”
