According to El Chiringuito TV, Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams has his heart set on Barcelona and he has even informed his agent ‘not to do anything stupid’ that might jeopardise this deal.

Nico’s potential transfer to Barcelona seems like a perfect fit. The club is actively seeking a young, dynamic left-winger, a role that Nico can seamlessly fill.

Moreover, his existing friendships with Barcelona players like Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, and Pedri add positive momentum to his desire to join the Catalan giants.

However, Barcelona face a significant hurdle, as Athletic Club are reluctant to part ways with Nico.

They have set a hefty €58 million release clause, insisting that any suitor must meet this valuation to secure the player’s services, and given Barcelona’s current financial constraints, meeting such a demand is simply not feasible.

In their discussions with Nico and his representatives, Barcelona have outlined their vision for the player and presented a contract proposal.

They have communicated a structured plan that includes a substantial salary increase based on performance incentives, such as playing a minimum number of games.

For now, the specifics of Barcelona’s salary offer are still being ironed out, pending clarity on the club’s budget constraints.

However, it is certain that their strategy involves setting a base salary with provisions for straightforward increments based on achieving specified performance targets.

Barcelona are aware of the competition

Barcelona understand they can’t compete with the financial muscle of other elite clubs. However, they are banking on Nico’s enthusiasm for joining Barcelona, where he would reunite with close friend Yamal and contribute to the team’s success.

It is said that Barcelona remain optimistic about securing Nico’s signature and the player has shown a strong inclination to join Barcelona,

This approach aligns well with the club’s aspirations as it aims to orient Nico’s earnings closer to what top European clubs could offer, albeit within Barcelona’s financial limitations.
